Rev. Ford was appointed to the Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church by Bishop Richard F. Norris on June 14, 2008.
Ordained an Itinerant Elder in April 2008, at the seat of the 186th New York Annual Conference, Rev. Ford made history here at Trinity AME Church by becoming the first Female Pastor.

Rev. Ford obtained a Masters of Divinity in Church and Society from Union Theological Seminary, New York (2008). Additionally, she earned a Master of Science from Long Island University (1992) and a Bachelor of Science degree (1986) in Health Services Administration from the State University of New York in Utica.
Rev. Ford has over sixteen years of social services administration and teaching experience. Former employers include but are not limited to Safe Horizon, New York City Department for the Aging; Jamaica Service Program for Older Adults, Human Resources Administration, York College and Union Theological Seminary. Currently she is employed part time as a consultant with the Parish Resource Center of Valley Stream, New York.
Rev. Ford has presented numerous workshops and seminars including those in mission and program development, church administration, African American health and family issues, family and community violence, aging and elder care and ministerial relationships.
Additionally, she has served as guest preacher and lecturer at a variety of religious and secular seminars, educational conferences, special events and ecumenical worship services.
She is also a recipient of the National Council of Negro Women, Black Women Who Make it Happen Award. She has served her local church as a Steward, President of the Women’s Missionary Society, YWI Coordinator for the New York Conference WMS and former Conference Christian Social Relations Chair.
Rev. Ford is now well settled in at Trinity and is hard at work developing strong community relationships with the congregation, goal setting and seeking ways to strengthen the life of the community.
Rev. Ford is single with no children, but has an extended biological family of three siblings and several nephews and nieces, and a wonderful network of friends who are “family”. Rev. Ford is a native New Yorker.
Theologically and politically, she would describe herself as progressive, with a strong concern for ministry with women and families, human rights, peace, and world missions.
Rev. Brenda enjoys walking, reading, listening to music, adding resources to her library. She also loves to travel and has done international ministry work in the Dominican Republic and Jamaica.
